Alex Eala recently captured her first WTA title at the Mubadala DC Open, and Nike commemorated the historic milestone with a pair of custom shoes made especially for the Pinay tennis ace.

Eala wore the custom shoes when she stepped inside Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City for her exhibition match against Iva Jovic in this year's US Open.

The 21-year-old shared her excitement over the special Nike shoes during a press conference on Saturday, Aug. 29.

"I walked out yesterday in a gift from Nike that I received. It’s a shoe to celebrate my first title in Washington. It was so personalized and had all these super, super sick details," Eala said.

"It’s crazy because they also gave me a gift when I won the 2022 Junior US Open," she added. "It’s super sentimental."

Eala appears to have received a pair of custom Nike Vapor Pro 3s in white, accented with bright green Swooshes made especially to mark the milestone. Beyond the court-ready design, the shoes feature personalized lettering and tags that make the pair a fitting memento of her breakthrough win.

The blue tag features the word “Champion,” the semifinal score (6–4, 6–2), and the final score (4–6, 6–4, 6–0), alongside Nike’s iconic “Just Do It” tagline.

Eala won the 2026 Mubadala DC Open championship against World No. 3 Jessica Pegula early this month. She defeated four other top seeds and Olympians: Zheng Qinwen, defending champion Leylah Fernandez, World No. 2 Elina Svitolina, and four-time Grand Slam champion and No. 3 seed Naomi Osaka.

According to WTA, Eala received $252,000 (about P15.4 million) for winning the WTA 500 tournament. She also rose to No. 20 in the rankings, and most recently to No. 18.

Eala is the No. 17 seed in this year's US Open. She is set to face US' Mary Stoiana in the first round happening on Aug. 30.
