PSA: NLEX to implement toll hikes starting March 2
Heads up, motorists: The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation will implement toll adjustments of P5 in the open system and P0.72 per kilometer in the closed system starting Sunday, March 2.
The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) announced on Thursday, Feb. 27 that motorists will have to pay an additional P5 for Class 1 vehicles (regular cars and sports utility vehicles); P13 for Class 2 (buses and small trucks); and P15 for Class 3 (large trucks) at the open system (Balintawak, Caloocan, Mindanao Ave to North of Marilao).
Those who will traverse the closed system (North of Marilao to Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City) will have to pay an additional P52 for Class 1, P129 for Class 2, and P156 for Class 3.
An additional P7 for Class 1, P18 for Class 2, and P21 for Class 3 will be collected at Subic-Tipo.
Those travelling the full length of NLEX, from Metro Manila to Mabalacat City will pay an additional P57 for Class 1 vehicles, P142 for Class 2 vehicles, and P171 for Class 3 vehicles.
The TRB said it allowed NLEX’s toll hike to recover its investment in the P7.7 billion newly completed Candaba 3rd Viaduct.
“Motorists have been enjoying safer and more comfortable journeys with the new Candaba 3rd Viaduct without paying for additional toll since it was partially opened in August 2024 and fully completed in December of the same year,” the NLEX Corp said.
The toll hike is the consolidated 50% amount, or the first tranche of the provisionally approved toll adjustments in 2022. The other half is slated to roll in 2026 to “help curb inflation and cushion the impact” of the adjustments to the motorists.
