Beauty and brains indeed! Binibining Pilipinas International 2024 Myrna Esguerra recently graduated from college with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management with a Specialization in MICE Events at the City College of Angeles in Pampanga.

On her social media pages, the 22-year-old beauty queen shared her milestone saying that she will not choose between a crown and a diploma because she can have both.

"Crown or Diploma? I say, why should I choose between a diploma and a crown when I can have both? Ma, Pa! Graduate nako- May graduate na kayo, may Beauty Queen pa kayo!" she began.

"Napakabuti ni Lord, and he keeps on proving that in my life. Indeed "God never fails" (Joshua 21:45)," Myrna added.

Myrna, who is also an environmentalist, said that a quote from Nelson Mandela inspired her to surpass challenges, igniting "the hope to push through in life."

"There's this quote that I hold dear in my heart by Nelson Mandela and it says 'The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling but in rising every time you fall.' This quote has helped me cross mountains of challenges and it gave me hope to push through in life."

Dreaming big

The Abrenian beauty queen also recalled the things she went through when she was seven years old. According to her, she had to handle everything by herself, such as going to school, cooking her meals, and doing laundry.

"I had to manage these responsibilities because my mother was working abroad. It wasn't a matter of choice but of necessity driven by my circumstances. That little girl fought so hard, I am so proud of you little Myrna."

She continued, "I had to hug myself so many times to continue and I kept on reminding myself of the reasons why I should push through and one of the reason[s] is to prove that no matter who you are or where you came from you can dream BIG and make that dream your reality."

Myrna concluded her post by showing gratitude for her successes, from earning a national title to having a college degree.

"It wasn't easy, it was so hard but because of all the people who showed me love, kindness, understanding and support [I'm] able to do and achieved all these kaya maraming salamat po."

Myrna was crowned this year's Bb. Pilipinas International at the recently concluded 60th Binibining Pilipinas last Sunday, July 7 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

She bested 39 other contestants and will represent the country in the Miss International 2025 pageant to be held on November 12 in Tokyo, Japan.
