An Indian doctor was reportedly killed by his girlfriend and three of her friends after he posted her IDs and private photos as a way to pretend to be a woman online.

Per Delhi-based newspaper Hindustan Times, the man named Vikas Rajan, 27, started posting his live-in girlfriend's nude photos online through fake Facebook and Instagram accounts. When his girlfriend confronted Rajan about the discovery, he reportedly said that it was "just for fun."

As a way to teach a lesson to her boyfriend, Rajan's partner gathered three male friends and attacked the doctor with a floor mop and bottles in their home.

Although the intention of the attack remains unclear, Rajan was assaulted severely and fell into a coma. They rushed him to the hospital, where he died three days later on Sept. 14.

The girlfriend first told Rajan's brother that she was not at home when the attack happened, however, it was found that she initiated the plan when police eventually got involved.

“She initially tried to put the blame on her friends and said she was not part of the attack," said Deputy Police Commissioner for South East Bangalore, C K Baba.

"However, following repeated interrogation and cross-examining of the accused, police learned that she was involved in the crime."

Rajan's fake accounts containing his girlfriend's photos has since been taken down as authorities further investigate the case.
