After brushing herself off following her Asiad match against China's Wang Xiyu on Thursday, Oct. 1, Alex Eala said she has no misgivings about her experience.

"I have no regrets," the World No. 18 told media.

"At the end of the day, being a professional tennis player and a competitive tennis player, losing is part of the job and losing is always a possibility," Eala said.

She added that the uncertainty of the outcome of matches is "what makes tennis so difficult" but also "so exciting."

"You never know what's going to happen and you can't let your guard down," the top seed said.

"I think that also contributes [to] my pursuit for excellence and my pursuit for the best version of myself," Eala added.

In a post-match interview with SNTV via APT Sports, Eala admitted she was "disappointed" with the loss to Wang. Still, she said, "I think it happens. Momentum shifts happen. Everyone's constantly trying to find a way."

The 21-year-old said she also saw her Asiad run in a positive light.

"I think I just take away great experiences. Of course, [there are] some lessons that I have to process. But yeah, really happy to have experienced this," she said.

"I'm even more happy that tennis is leveling up in the Philippines and it really puts a smile on my face," Eala added.

Following her Asiad stint, Eala will be jumping back into the WTA Tour, heading to the Wuhan Open, which begins on Oct. 12, and then the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo by Oct. 26. The Tokyo run is a WTA 500 tournament, where Eala is currently in the initial entry list, though seeding and draws have not yet been released.
