Enchong Dee sued for cyber libel for ‘defamatory’ comments on Rep. Claudine Bautista's wedding
Congresswoman Claudine Bautista, the party-list representative for Drivers United for Mass Progress and Equal Rights (DUMPER), has filed a P1 billion cyber libel complaint against Enchong Dee over his "malicious" and "defamatory" comments on her allegedly extravagant wedding.
According to Bautista, the Kapamilya actor "went as far as saying that I used public coffers to fund my wedding."
"The posts were meant nothing more than their malicious intentions of maligning my person, depicting me as a corrupt public official,” she said.
The partylist representative's wedding to businessman Jose French Lim drew flak as it went viral in August. Aside from Dee, netizens and actress Agot Isidro criticized the congresswoman's Michael Cinco-designed gown and Balesin Island venue, deeming it "insensitive amid the pandemic."
"The money for commuters and drivers went to her wedding. Let’s not prolong this conversation and don’t say otherwise," the actor tweeted on Aug. 14.
A few days later, Dee issued a public apology on Twitter addressed to Bautista, her husband, their families, and the DUMPER partylist.
"I have been reckless in the tweet I posted and I take full responsibility for my lapse in judgment," he said.

Despite this, Bautista noted that the actor has not personally apologized to her.
"He was not sorry to me and for the damage that he has done. He just wants to deflect, albeit unsuccessfully, this criminal charge against him…This does not do any good for him. It only bolstered and magnified his admission of guilt beyond reasonable doubt for his unprovoked and baseless libelous remarks," she said.
