LRT-2, MRT-3 offer free rides on Feb. 7 to mark DOTr's 125th anniversary

Good news, commuters!

The Light Rail Transit Line 2 and Metro Rail Transit Line 3 are offering free rides today, Feb. 7 in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Department of Transportation.

The DOTr announced the news in a Facebook post, saying that Libreng Sakay is available from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

In LRT-2, the first train departed from Recto and Antipolo stations at 5:00 a.m., while the last ones will leave Antipolo station at 9:00 p.m. and Recto station at 9:30 p.m.

In MRT-3, meanwhile, the first trip was at 4:30 a.m. from the North Avenue station and 5:05 a.m. from the Taft Avenue station. The last trains will leave at 9:30 p.m. and 10:09 p.m., respectively.

The DOTr was among the first government agencies formed under the Malolos Constitution on Jan. 21, 1899. It's the "primary policy, planning, programming, coordinating, implementing and administrative entity of the executive branch of the government on the promotion, development and regulation of a dependable and coordinated network of transportation systems, as well as in the fast, safe, efficient and reliable transportation services."
