Zaldy Co has been arrested in Prague—Marcos

Former Ako Bicol representative Zaldy Co has been arrested.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Thursday evening that Co is detained in Prague and is in custody of the Czech Republic authorities. 

"Nahuli na si Zaldy Co," he wrote on Facebook. "He is now detained in Prague after crossing into the Czech Republic without proper documentation and is currently in the custody of Czech authorities."

"We are in close coordination with the Czech government to ensure that all legal processes are followed and to arrange for his return to the Philippines at the soonest possible time," he added.

Marcos said that the public will be informed "as developments unfold."

Co is considered a central figure in the 2025 flood control scandal involving billions of pesos lost to alleged corruption.

Last month, Marcos said that Co was in Portugal and that the Philippine government is coordinating with Portuguese authorities to repatriate Co to the Philippines, noting that the process would not be easy.

“You cannot bring him home because that is not the way it works. We have to ask the assistance of the country where he is in, which is presently Portugal. So, that’s what we have done,” the President said.

He added that the government has already requested a Red Notice through the International Criminal Police Organization to locate Co.
