Robinsons Malls advances sustainable pet parenting

Published Jun 02, 2022 3:00 pm

With the unconditional love and joy they bring to our homes, pet dogs and cats have become regular family members we care most about. So it’s no longer unusual that we see them joining household events, weekend dates, and even shopping or dining with their furparents in the mall. Robinsons Malls fully recognizes this family setup and takes pride in its strong community of pet owners and animal lovers, the Robinsons Malls Happy Pets Club.

The launch of Robinsons Malls Happy Pets Club

Back in 2015, furmoms and furdads would bring their pets to Robinsons Magnolia. The mall’s sprawling garden area was more than ideal for them to hang out with fellow furparents and for their furbabies to enjoy long walks, fresh air and — of course — the company of other pets. This eventually led to the creation of what is now known as Robinsons Happy Pets Club (HPC). The club has since been launched in other Robinsons Malls nationwide.

Aside from the camaraderie that HPC offers its members, the program also provides added perks and benefits — from discounts and special deals at partner merchants to invitations to exclusive pet events and programs. HPC partners include Top Breed, Handyman, Daiso, True Value, and Pet Lovers Center. To date, HPC continues to grow with over 3,000 members all over the country.

Robinsons Malls also strengthened its stance on being pet-friendly by opening indoor and outdoor pet parks in various malls. These safe spaces, now available in 21 malls, allow dogs and puppies to stretch their legs, develop their agility through fun obstacle courses, and socialize with other pets.

“Robinsons Malls continues to introduce new and more exciting amenities that will cater to the different needs of our shoppers. Furparents are among our most valued customers and we ensure that we provide them and their furbabies the most delightful experiences possible,” says Arlene G. Magtibay, SVP and General Manager of Robinsons Malls.

Happy Pets Club goes digital

As HPC takes strides not only in its membership but also with its projects, the official Facebook page was launched in May 2021 to connect to more pet owners, pet brands and animal welfare organizations. This allowed HPC members to have fast and convenient access to pet-related content, referrals to pet services, and special promotions and activities.

Pet owners can easily register their pets via RMalls + App. Easily fill in your pet’s details and download the Pet ID in a snap!

Membership to HPC is also made easier with the introduction of online registration via QR code. This allows pet owners to have a digital pet pass whenever they need to drop by the mall with their pet companions. To become a member and get a virtual pet ID, all furparents have to do is download and register to RMalls+, the new mobile app of Robinsons Malls. By clicking the Happy Pets Club button, members can immediately access their Digital Pet Pass if already registered or easily sign up through an online form. Existing HPC members can also avail of multiple pet passes, so they don’t have to worry about bringing more than one pet during their next visit to the mall.

HPC gives back to the community

Without the valuable support of pet parents and pet brand partners, HPC would not be able to realize its purpose and goals for the community that it serves. This is the reason why HPC also embarked on various initiatives that will benefit even non-members and serve a larger community of pet owners.

Four corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs were launched by HPC: Pet Bakuna, a free anti-rabies vaccination drive; Pet Konsulta, free online vet consultation services; The Gift of Furever Home, a pet adoption drive; and Snip en Snap, a free spay and neuter program. All these programs promote responsible pet ownership and increase awareness of animal welfare issues, such as overpopulation of stray dogs and cats and the rapid increase in unvaccinated pets.

In celebration of World Animal Day, Robinsons Malls donated funds to AKF to spay and neuter Aspins, Puspins, and rescues in Brgy. San Miguel, Tarlac City. AKF ambassadog Sherluck gladly received the donation.

As HPC hopes to create a more positive image for aspins and puspins, which are often discriminated against and abandoned in the streets, they are given priority in the Pet Bakuna, Pet Konsulta, and Snip en Snap programs. The Gift of Furever Home meantime shines the spotlight on rehabilitated rescues looking for new homes.

These programs are made possible through HPC’s strong alliances with respected animal welfare groups — the Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF) and PAWSsion Project. Both organizations are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming cats and dogs, goals consistent with HPC advocacies. HPC events also get the support of Local Government Units as part of their animal welfare and awareness campaigns.

“Animal Kingdom Foundation’s partnership with Robinsons Malls provides greater opportunities for public education on responsible pet ownership and rehoming of our rescues. We are truly grateful that we joined hands to create a better future for the animals,” says AKF program director Atty. Heidi Caguioa.
