Beloved Korean bakery Standard Bread opens first branch in the Philippines
Standard Bread is now in the Philippines.
The Korean bakery officially opened its first branch in the country on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
At its PH store, you get to experience not just its freshly baked bread—we're talking fresh batches coming out of the oven every 30 minutes—but also its wide selection of spreads, filling meals, refreshing drinks, and comforting warmth and joy that altogether have won over customers in different parts of the world.
At the heart of Standard Bread is the belief that "the most basic bread can create the most perfect taste," which reflects in its bakery selections. Among the stars of the Philippine menu are the Crème Brûlée French Toast and Eggs in Hell with Bread as well as salads, pasta, rice dishes, and coffee. There's also the Bulgogi Doenjang Risotto and the Burrata Cheese Ragù Pasta. Another must-try is the Standard Spanner.
Aside from Korea and the Philippines, Standard Bread also has branches in China, Taiwan, and Singapore. Each store has its own unique story and concept inspired by different places in Korea such as the secret kitchen in Dosan, the garden in Seongsu, the bakery market in Haeundae, the laboratory in Anguk, and the wheat field in Gwangju.

The bakery has a playful and charming approach to bread. It has so-called "Standard Friends" modeled after different types of bread: Tosik (toast bread) is the leader of the pack; ChiaChia (ciabatta) is the playful one; Guette (baguette) exudes confidence and warmth; Baebae (bagel) enjoys being in the spotlight; and Camneu (campagne bread) is the quiet type. "These five characters give the bakery's story a friendly, memorable personality rooted in the breads that inspired them," the brand said in a press release sent to PhilSTAR L!fe.
The bread friends "embody the honesty and sincerity of the original bakers who passed down their recipes across generations and cultures," according to Standard Bread. "No matter where or when you meet them, the Standard Friends remain unchanged, delivering the simple joy and comforting warmth that only the most essential breads can offer."
Standard Bread's first Philippine branch is located at Level 3, Mega B, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City. It's open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
