A cafe featuring desserts made with Good Shepherd's ube jam, peanut brittle, and more is opening in Baguio

If a trip to Baguio isn't complete without that iconic Good Shepherd jar, prepare for some exciting news. A cafe featuring treats made with the beloved brand's goodies is opening in the City of Pines.

Robbie Pantaleon, a young entrepreneur who also runs Everything Nice Cafe and 113 Wagner Cafe, hatched up the concept for Good Shepherd Cafe nearly three years after their collaboration for the Ube Crinkles and Ube Flakes, the proceeds of which went to the Children with Cancer organization in Baguio and the 106 scholars of Good Shepherd.

"I wanted to take it (ube desserts) to the next level. [Can] we put up a Good Shepherd cafe where people not only experience pasalubong items like our Ube Crinkles or Ube Flakes in a jar but to actually have it dining in?" he told PhilSTAR L!fe in an interview.

The upcoming cafe, according to Robbie, will use the beloved brand's products to infuse ube in dishes like bibingka, latte, halo-halo, ginataang bilo-bilo, and turon.

"The concept of this cafe [is] turning [Good Shepherd's] ube jam, strawberry jam, or even their peanut brittle into a full experience," he added.

For this, Pantaleon got the Good Shepherd Convent in Baguio's support for the project and sent them a proposal prior.

In a phone call with L!fe, Good Shepherd Convent in Baguio's Sister Guadalupe Bautista confirmed that Pantaleon owns the cafe.

"We gave support to him," she added when asked about the project.

Good Shepherd Cafe will be opening at the Baguio Cathedral soon.

"Something sweet is coming your way! From the makers of your favorite Good Shepherd ube crinkles and ube flakes, comes a whole new way to experience goodness. Introducing Good Shepherd Cafe—come for the ube, stay for the experience," the coffee shop's Instagram page wrote.

Editor's note: This article was updated to clarify that the cafe is owned by Pantaleon.
