CHAGEE's new Hojicha Genmai Milk Tea is comfort in a cup

Published Apr 06, 2026 2:32 pm

Another Japanese green tea is having its moment: Hojicha.

Unlike matcha, Hojicha is slowly roasted—giving it the signature warm brown color and smoky flavor.

Those looking to try the drink can now grab a cup at CHAGEE, which is offering a new Hojicha Genmai Milk Tea, which is poised to bring comfort and calm and to serve as a reminder to slow down on busy days.

According to CHAGEE, the fresh leaves for the tea are harvested around the Grain Rain or Guyu, the season when tea leaves are at their peak of freshness and nourishment.

The leaves will undergo the international chop's own triple-roasting process to get rid of bitterness, build depth of aroma, and deliver a clean finish. They are blended with roasted premium Wuchang grains, which results in a warm, roasted aroma and soothing, clear drink.

“Hojicha has been building momentum globally, and we knew it was ready for its moment here. We wanted to be the ones to bring it properly: with the sourcing, the craft, and the experience to match," CHAGEE Philippines' general manager Christopher Rey Mendez Tiong said.

You can get the new drink in regular (P159) and large (P175) sizes at all of the shop's outlets.

From April 8, those who grab the drink can also purchase limited-edition merch like a tote bag and thermal tumbler. Check out the promos below.
