When you find that a certain product is “environment-friendly” and “sustainable,” it’s usually a good idea to consume to support Mother Earth somehow. But what if that something is made out of recycled water from urine and sewage? Would you give it a shot?

Singapore has just launched the NEWBrew—one of its “greenest” beers yet. The national water agency PUB tapped local craft brewery Brewerkz for the creation of the unique craft beer made with NEWater, which is the country’s brand of ultra-clean and high-grade recycled water.

Yes, the recycled water comes from the toilet bowl—urine—and sewage. Brewerkz, however, clarified it’s “perfectly wholesome and safe to drink” as it undergoes a 3-step purification process. From microfiltration or ultrafiltration that separates microscopic particles and bacteria, it’s followed by reverse osmosis to get rid of viruses and other contaminants. The final step is ultraviolet disinfection to ensure proper filtration and safety.

According to the partner brewery, there’s about 95% of NEWater in every NEWBrew can decked out with designs inspired by the Asian spot’s well-known water landmarks such as Marina Barrage, MacRitchie Reservoir, and Singapore River.

As for its taste, the NEWBrew is “smooth, not overly sweet and with a tinge of bitterness,” as Brewerkz itself put it.

Tempting, isn’t it? Now that you know it’s completely safe to consume and you have an idea of its hints and finish, is it still a no-no for you or are you willing to be adventurous just for this booze?
