You can soon rent Airbnb's replica of Edna Mode's mansion in 'The Incredibles'
Want to feel what it's like to step into the shoes of The Incredibles' Edna Mode and live in her extravagant mansion?
You can now fulfill that wish as Airbnb announced that it will be open to requests to book the place starting May 24. But there's a catch: While the house is open for visits, overnight stays are not allowed.
"Come explore my years of hard work in the world of fashion and glamor, and design a Supersuit of your very own, fit for any adventure. It will be bold! Dramatic! Heroic! But remember—NO CAPES!" Airbnb wrote in the listing's description box.
The company also gave a look at the place in an Instagram post.
The Los Angeles-based home is described to be a "work of art—chic, minimalist design elegantly paired with state-of-the-art technology. It’s truly a modern masterpiece."
It recreates many scenes and rooms from Edna's house as shown in the 2004 animated superhero film by Pixar, such as the gate where Edna herself checks if you're worthy to enter as well as the stylish kitchen where the fashion designer gives her iconic pep talk to Elastigirl.
Most importantly, the mansion features the notable super suit room where she carefully crafts the costumes of superheroes. The area is adorned with all sorts of high-tech machineries that she uses for her masterpieces as well as some sketches of her ideas for future super suits.
But if you think that you'll be going home empty-handed, you'll be pleased to find that Edna's lab also has a "team of expert designers" that will lead your "Supersuit experience."
"Create your one-of-a-kind Supersuit tailored to your unique powers. Your suit will arrive by US Post in just a few short weeks. No need to thank me, I know you’ll adore it!" the description read.
Airbnb's recreation of Edna's fabulous home comes in celebration of The Incredibles' 20th anniversary. The film centers on married superheroes Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl as they're forced to live ordinary lives after the government banned superheroes, but a new threat pushes them to put their suits back on to save the world from impending doom.
Edna, an eccentric fashion designer renowned for creating the costumes of several famous superheroes, is regarded by many to be the breakout star of the film. She is described as a scene-stealer due to her humor and dialogue.
Her house is among the 11 "icons" created by Airbnb as part of their new campaign to sell experience. The lineup includes Inside Out 2’s "headquarters" of the mind and the floating house from Up.
