After the successful events at Parqal and Glorietta in the last few months, the traveling book fair is expanding its reach to bring over two million books to avid readers residing north of the Metro.

But with over two million books on display, newbies may feel overwhelmed navigating the sale. Big Bad Wolf Books co-founder Jacqueline advised that you should first check the books near the entrance as these are their best-sellers.

Spotlight on local stories

As much as we love Western authors and their creative tales, it’s important that we take time to explore what our local storytellers have to offer, and Big Bad Wolf shines the spotlight on many of their works at their latest stop in time for Buwan ng Wika.

The sale showcases a lot of Filipino books from publishers such as Feast Books, Adarna, Tahanan, Lampara, and Bookmark, among others.

This is of utmost importance to Ng, as she told L!fe, "We always want each country to have its own preservation and promotion of their local culture and local language, so that's why we will always invite the local publishers to participate."

What's special about their sale this time around is they are now joined by independent book publishers, which means that you'll be able to find interesting reads that you have yet to encounter in bookstores.

"I'm very glad that they are part of us because there's a lot of self-published authors and they need a lot of help to bring their books to the public."

Future endeavors
Big Bad Wolf

Don't fret, bibliophiles, as Big Bad Wolf is here to stay with even more sales in the future.

According to Big Bad Wolf Books Philippine Managing Partner Carol Chuaying, the fair is determined to address poor reading abilities among Filipinos, especially the younger generation who are living in impoverished areas.

"A big part of why Big Bad Wolf is here is because of their love and commitment to really help the Philippines in terms of addressing poverty because we know that a lot of people are supporting Filipinos in terms of feeding programs, but nobody gives their support to feed the mind," Chuaying said.

She continued, "In order to help change lives, we have to feed minds so that they can self-learn and they can self-help themselves to become better."

She assured that Big Bad Wolf is going to more cities in the Philippines and bring more books closer to the public.
