Even French fries are now considered a luxury.
I’m talking about the Crème de la Crème Pomme Frites, which has recently earned a spot in the Guinness World Records (GWR) as the most expensive French fries in the world. Crafted by creative chef Joe Calderone and corporate executive chef Fredrick Schoen-Kiewert, it boasts of premium ingredients that all add up to the $200 dish (P10,000). Among them are:
- Dom Perignon Champagne;
- LeBlanc French ChampagneArdenneVinegar;
- batches of purecage-freegoose fat from France;
- GuerandeTruffle Salt;
- truffle oil;
- Crete Senesi PecorinoTartufellocheese;
- shaved black summer truffles from Italy;
- truffle butter;
- organic A2 100% grass-fed cream from Jersey Cows;
- Gruyere Truffled Swiss Raclette that has been aged for three months; and
- 23k edible gold dust.

For the Mornay sauce that it comes with, truffle butter, flour, and organic A2 100% grass-fed cream from Jersey Cows are used. “Cubes ofGruyere Truffled Swiss Raclette are folded into the mixture, adding a thick creaminess thatquite closely resembles a fondue,” the GWR continued.
Garnishes of shaved truffle, Crete Senesi Pecorino Tartufello cheese, and 23k edible gold dust complete the dish, which is then placed on a Baccarat crystal Arabesque Plate.
According to the guidelines, the expensive offering “must be available for purchase to the public, and an unbiased customer is required to buy it, to qualify for the title.”
