Celebrate the holidays at home with these Monkey Shoulder cocktails

By Tanya Lara Published Dec 02, 2021 6:00 pm

‘Tis the season to be jolly! With the holidays just around the corner, lights and colorful décor are livening up our homes and city streets for a truly festive atmosphere.

This Christmas, get in the merry spirit of mixing by unleashing your inner bartender and experimenting in some festive pours with Monkey Shoulder, the 100% malt whisky made for mixing.

Monkey Shoulder is a free-spirited, fun loving blended malt with an easy-going smooth, rich and mellow vanilla deliciousness that means it can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, mixed or in cocktails. Scotch snobs say you shouldn’t drink whisky with ice or mix it with cocktails, but there are no old-fashioned rules when it comes to enjoying Monkey Shoulder. That’s why bartenders love Monkey Shoulder; it’s a sociable Scotch that loves to mingle!

The fun and possibilities with Monkey Shoulder are endless—you can play around with your own mixes or simply recreate three of their most popular cocktails:

Ginger Monkey

Let’s start with the Monkey Shoulder’s signature serve — the Ginger Monkey. The fastest way to flavour, whisky lovers would describe this cocktail as OMG! (Orange/Monkey/Ginger). To make this simple cocktail, you’ll need:

  • 120 ml. of dry ginger ale
  • Freshly sliced orange wedge

How to make the ‘Ginger Monkey’

  • Fill a long glass with ice.
  • Pour in your Monkey Shoulder, and top it off with dry ginger ale.
  • Gently stir, and garnish with your orange wedge.
