Tracy Maureen Perez advances to Miss World Top 30 after dominating Mexico in Head to Head challenge
Philippines' Tracy Maureen Perez is very close to winning the Miss World crown, as she officially secured a spot in the Top 30 of the pageant.
The news comes after the Cebuana beauty dominated the pageant's fast-track event: the Head to Head challenge.
Perez won the first leg of the challenge on Nov. 29 when she bested fellow candidates from Group 11's Puerto Rico, Slovenia, Macau, France, and Gibraltar during their discussion about advocacies and their personal journeys to get to Miss World.
This time around, she went up against Mexico's Karolina Vidales to advance to the semi-finals of the said challenge.
In an Instagram post after her win, Perez expressed gratitude for the Filipinos who've supported her every step of the way.
"We got through the final head to head challenge today, Philippines!! To every single one of you who really took the time and effort to vote for me, thank you so much, daghang salamat, maraming salamat po!!" the 28-year-old Miss World Philippines winner captioned.
"We wouldn’t have made it through the final round if you hadn’t helped me get through the first round. I am so grateful for this chance, patuloy po tayong lalaban."
Aside from Perez, Miss Venezuela, Miss Paraguay, Miss Nicaragua, Miss Cameroon, Miss Nepal, Miss Côte d’Ivoire, Miss Botswana are also named challenge winners.
The Miss World 2021 coronation night will be held in on Dec. 17 in Puerto Rico.
