No more bulky bags: AirAsia to reinforce 7kg carry-on limit
No more stuffing extra items into your carry-on. AirAsia Philippines is implementing a stricter cabin baggage policy on Aug. 15 to improve boarding times and create a better travel experience for all passengers.
According to Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Communications and Public Affairs Head & First Officer, passengers are allowed to bring a total weight of 7 kg for their cabin baggage. It can include a backpack or trolley and one small personal bag.
The cabin bag should fit in the overhead compartment and should not exceed 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm. The personal item should be no larger than 40 cm x 30 cm x 10 cm and should fit under the seat in front.
“Our cabin baggage policy is in place to support on-time departures by ensuring a faster and seamless boarding and disembarking process,” Dailisan said. “Compliance also ensures fair access to overhead compartments for all guests, maintaining both safety and comfort.”
If you're trying to tie or strap multiple items together, that's not allowed, too.
Duty-free items bought at the airport will also be included in the baggage allowance except for items packed in a Security Tamper-Evident Bag (STEB), along with proof of purchase.
If your bags exceed the size or weight limit, you are to check in these items with an additional fee.
“Adhering to the cabin baggage policy is crucial to avoid unexpected higher charges at the airport and reduce congestion which affects the guest experience, especially during boarding and disembarkation,” Dailisan said.
“Compliance also helps maintain safety and comfort, while promoting consistency and fairness, ensuring a smoother travel experience for all guests.”
