Buy 1 Take 1 for a cause: Mama Lou's Cherry Tomato Margherita Pasta gives back to local farmers
Imagine all those tomatoes you love going to waste. Sadly, that's the reality for many tomato farmers in recent years. Oversupply, limited markets, transportation woes, and low profits force them to sell their harvest for a fraction of its worth or watch them go to waste. Luckily, rescue buyers are taking the initiative to help.
Mama Lou's Hospitality Group is extending its hands with a sweet deal customers cannot miss: a Buy 1 Get 1 deal on its new Cherry Tomato Margherita pasta, which they can avail of starting Friday, July 5.
"With their (cherry tomatoes) short shelf life, our culinary team got creative and made a delicious cherry tomato confit," David Sison, President and CEO of Mama Lou's said.
This dish features roasted cherry tomato confit, garlic, basil, and a hint of chili, and it sells for P550.
Mama Lou's is showing their commitment to fresh, local ingredients by consistently purchasing 1 ton of cherry tomatoes each week from local farmers.
"We're thrilled to support other local farmers by incorporating these cherry tomatoes into our menu," said Sison. "This initiative not only helps reduce food waste but also allows us to provide our customers with a fresh, flavorful, and affordable meal option.
