From strawberry buko pie to ‘mystery donuts’: Here’s what to eat in March

There’s a sense of wanderlust that continues to shine through—the kind that makes you long for fun adventures in different parts of the world. It’s a feeling of wanting to revisit something or simply try something new.

Travel restrictions have been eased in various countries due to a noticeable decline in COVID-19 cases, but it’s important to remember that the virus is still here. If you want to satisfy your desire for exploration as you stay in your area or somewhere near, why not do so through food?

From fresh offerings to incredible innovations, the food and beverage scene always has something new in store. Here’s a quick roundup of the ones that should be on your radar this March.

What a refreshing feeling it is to have ice cream in this hot weather—even more so if it’s made with fresh milk. Merry Moo, which recently made the rounds online for its collaboration with Lola Nena’s, is coming to SM Mall of Asia to make more Pinoys happy with what their brand has become famous for: its signature creamy base made from local dairy in Laguna. Among its bestsellers are the Malted Milk (P135), Cheesy Mamon (P135), and Rocky Road (P145).

Up for some mystery? Krispy Kreme has collaborated with TikTok to come up with mystery donuts, which all come with a sweet, sweet surprise! Priced at P759 per dozen, it features ring donuts “dipped in pink chocolate icing filled with flavored kreme, topped with blue and pink icing and white sprinkles.”

If you’re craving a taste of Singapore, Hawker Chan’s newest offering: poached chicken. You can get it in half (P359) or whole (P659), but if you’re like us who want a little bit of everything, you should enjoy it with some rice (P148), soya sauce chicken and rice (P249), noodles (P178), or vegetable and noodles (P198). We know—it’s so hard to pick just one!

Can’t get enough of strawberries? When you’re up for a road trip, make sure to swing by Queens Strawberry Farm in Cavite. It even has a café with items that showcase the goodness of the strawberries harvested from their own field. Their standouts include Strawberry Cheesecake (P200/slice), Barako Coffee Jelly (P120/cup), Strawberry Chocolate Mousse (P190/cup), the Strawberry Milkshake (P150), and the Strawberry Buko Pie (P400).
