Cebu Pacific passengers can now cancel their flights for free, up to two hours before departure

Since the start of the pandemic last year, people’s travel plans have been thrown into disarray, which was expected as COVID-19 spread around the world and borders shut down.

But just when you thought things were going back to normal domestically—as GCQ was imposed and the Department of Tourism (DOT) encouraged Filipinos to help revive tourism—the COVID situation in the country got worse and Malacañang Palace has kept extending the ban on local travel since March.

As airlines grounded flights, people have had to rebook their holidays—flights and accommodations—several times.

Cebu Pacific introduced yesterday, May 26, a more flexible product that includes a Travel Fund option for voluntary flight cancellations. This means that you can cancel your flight regardless of whether there the travel ban has been lifted or not, and for whatever reason.

CEB’s Flexi product is a flight add-on that allows passengers to cancel their flights for free—up to two hours before departure, and store the value of the booking in a Travel Fund.

According to CEB, the amount may be used to book new flights or purchase other add-ons such as seat selection or travel insurance for future flights.

The enhanced CEB Flexi may be purchased for as low as P499 during initial booking on the CEB website or mobile app. It’s intended to give travelers peace of mind while supporting the industry in its efforts to rebuild passengers’ trust and confidence in air travel.

With this add-on, everyJuan will also be able to enjoy unlimited rebooking, following CEB’s permanent removal of change fees in March. A minimal fare difference may apply.

“We continue to listen and put our customers’ needs first as we work on developing products for everyJuan. We understand that while there is still a pent-up demand for travel in this new normal, plans can still change at the last-minute, and this product gives them added flexibility they need when booking flights with CEB,” said Candice Iyog, CEB vice president for Marketing and Customer Experience.

Passengers can also avail of the CEB Flexi product as a bundle through GO Flexi, and enjoy free cancellation, checked-in baggage with a combined weight of up to 20 kilos, and a standard seat.

In March, the airline permanently removed its rebooking or change fees of P1,500 for domestic, P2,300 for international short haul, P2,800 for international long haul.
