Philippines is second Most Instagrammable Place in the World
The Department of Tourism (DOT) announced today the inclusion of the Philippines in the “50 Most Instagrammable Places in the World” list of renowned travel website Big 7 Travel.
The Philippines ranked second to Tokyo, Japan on the roster, besting other places also in the Top 10 such as Paris, France; New York City, USA; Istanbul, Turkey; and Dubai, UAE.
“We are extremely happy with this recent recognition from Big 7 Travel. The global recognitions we have received amid the pandemic serves as the DOT’s inspiration as we develop and diversify our products around the country to spur the industry’s recovery," DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said.
Big 7 Travel touted the country as “Home to incredible natural wonders like an underground river and tranquil rice terraces in addition to a vibrant culture and history spanning several millennia.”
The website added that with “over 7,500 islands—the Philippines as a whole are extremely Instagrammable. From the bustling capital of Manila complete with colorful colonial streets to the absolute oasis of Boracay, the gram opportunities here are endless.”
Big 7 drew up the final list of destinations from a scoring system that analyzed the number of hashtags per destination, survey results from its social audience, and input from its editorial team.
