We're going back to Genovia: 'Princess Diaries 3' is happening
Shut up!
US celebrity news site The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Disney is set to release a third installment of the fan-favorite film series, The Princess Diaries.
Written by Supergirl scriptwriter, Aadrita Mukerji, new and old fans are set to learn more about the people of Genovia in the upcoming film.
Not much is known about the film and whether or not former leads Anne Hathaway and Julia Andrews wil reprise their roles. However, they previously expressed their support for another installment of the teen flick.
Just this October, Hathaway said that she was "pulling" for the possibility of a third film.
"I would more than entertain it, I'm pulling for it," she shared with Entertainment Tonight.
"If there's any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we would make it work. We would go to where she was and put a green screen behind her and just make it happen," she added.
Released in 2001, the films follow average teenager Mia Thermopolis (Hathaway) as she finds out that she's of royal blood and set to take the throne of the fictional land of Genovia.
Her grandmother, Queen Clarisse (Andrews) takes her on princess—and life—lessons before Mia eventually takes over the land in the second film.
The films are an adaptation of the book series of the same name by Meg Cabot.
