Paolo Contis' follow-up to 'Through Night and Day' is shot in Denmark
Are you ready to get your hearts broken again?
Paolo Contis revealed that he had just finished shooting a movie with the same producers of the 2018 tearjerker “Through Night and Day,”
This time, the movie was shot in Denmark.
The film, titled “The Faroe Way Land,” also stars Yen Santos and is set in the picturesque Faroe Island, an autonomous territory within Denmark.
They left the country to shoot the movie late November
Paolo had just returned to the Philippines from Denmark after a two-week shot.
And yes, if it isn’t clear—they filmed the movie in Faroe Island during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Medyo mahirap siya,” Paolo said about the process of filming outside the country during the pandemic, in an interview with Pilipino Star Ngayon.
Paolo said the safety protocols for their visa application and their shoot in Faroe Islands are tedious.
Apart from the mandatory COVID-19 testing a day before leaving for Denmark, they had to take a swab test upon arriving in the country. Everyone in their team was also required to do another swab test six days after their arrival.
Paolo said his trip to Denmark was his first since the pandemic, so it’s inevitable that he would get nervous.
But he believes in his movie. After all, he is one of its co-producers. As in “Through Night and Day,” where viewers got to see Iceland via the film, Paolo said those who will see “The Faroe Way Land” will also marvel at the beauty of Faroe Islands.
“Kung titingnan mo, parang peke siya eh. (Pero) naniniwala kami na sa mga kuwento ng pelikula somehow nagawa na yan lahat. Pero it’s how you tell the story na kakaiba ‘di ba?” he said.
Paolo, however, didn’t say when the movie will premiere or how—whether via streaming or via a traditional cinematic screening—it will be released.
It’ll be interesting to see how “The Faroe Way Land” will do among local views.
“Through Night and Day,” which stars Paolo and Alessandra de Rossi, was not a commercial success when it was first released in 2018.
But the movie surprised many when it became a hit on Netflix Philippines earlier this year. It is the year’s most popular Filipino title on Netflix Philippines.
Interestingly, Alessandra is also working on a movie sans Paolo. She is teaming up with Empoy Marquez, her co-star in the 2017 hit romantic movie “Kita Kita,” for the film “Walang KaParis.”
