Imagine it's 3 a.m. You close your eyes and drift off to sleep when you hear the baby crying. You get up to attend to it, but suddenly you remember – you live alone and don't have a baby.

Now, imagine watching The Haunting of Bly Manor on Netflix one night. You somehow drift off in the middle of an episode but are awakened by the child-like tone of... Peppa Pig?!

Should you feel scared? Elated? Pleasantly confused? Check your terror at the door for your ears are not deceiving you. That is Peppa Pig, and you're likely watching young actor Amelie Bea Smith on the screen right now.

The 9-year old Smith, who plays adorably creepy Flora Wingrave on Bly Manor, is also the current voice actor for Peppa Pig from the wildly popular children's cartoon of the same name.

If there was ever any doubt, Netflix Philippines tweeted out a helpful "Public Service Announcement" to put any dispute to rest:

The @Netflix_PH account goes, "PSA: Amelie Bea Smith is also the voice of Peppa Pig. So close your eyes while watching The Haunting of Bly Manor to get a perfectly splendid Peppa Pig episode." The tweet includes side-by-side images of Smith and Peppa Pig to further hammer the point.

On a People story on her casting, Smith comments on the second season of the Netflix horror series, "I still don’t know the whole story, but I’m not allowed to watch all of it when it comes out because I think I’ll be scared."

Peppa Pig is an ongoing animated series which started in 2004. The character of Peppa has been voiced by three previous young actors before Smith took over the role in 2020.

Based on The Turn of the Screw, an 1898 novella by Henry James which is considered an iconic work of gothic fiction, The Haunting of Bly Manor  is the story of a governess who is hired to look after a pair of siblings (played by Smith and 12-year old Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) whose parents have died. The two children try to navigate a seemingly haunted mansion in the English countryside and play central roles in the series' story.
