‘Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings’ drops new official trailer
The newest trailer for Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings dives deeper into the MCU’s newest martial arts superhero, as he tries to run away from a past that is slowly coming back to haunt him.
Not only that, the trailer also features some easter eggs that surely caught fans off guard, like the sudden appearance of the Abomination from the Ed Norton-led The Incredible Hulk film.
The Abomination isn’t the only heart-racing scene from the trailer. When Shang-Chi goes underwater, a dragon mysteriously appears in front of him, further raising questions about Shang-Chi’s origin and the story Marvel has in store for their newest superhero.
Marvel’s first Asian leading hero, Shang-Chi, is portrayed by Canadian actor Simu Liu. Joining Liu is Golden Globe-winning actress Awkwafina, Meng’er Zhang, Michelle Yeoh, Fala Chen, and Florian Munteanu as Marvel Comics villain Razor Fist. Renowned Hong Kong actor Tony Leung plays Wenwu, the true identity of the Mandarin, the leader of the Ten Rings criminal organization.
The Mandarin was first introduced in the Iron Man trilogy, and was thought to be a front made by Aldrich Killian to conquer the world.
As the world draws closer to knowing Shang-Chi’s mysterious past, Shang-Chi director, Destin Daniel Cretton said that “Shang-Chi’s main problem in his life is rooted in not knowing who he really is. He has to learn how to own every part of himself. If he doesn’t allow himself to look at all of it—the good, the bad, the light and the dark—and to own it all, he won’t be able to reach his full potential.”
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be released in theaters on September 3.
