Lenovo unveils new Legion gaming laptops at CES 2021
Lenovo finally took the wraps off its newest additions to its acclaimed Legion series at CES 2021.
The new gaming laptops are equipped with the latest AMD and NVIDIA processors, high-resolution 16-inch displays, and AI-driven frame rates.
Lenovo Legion 7
Leading the pack is the flagship Lenovo Legion 7 laptop that comes with a new 16-inch 165Hz IPS display with 16:10 aspect ratio and 2560 x 1600 resolution. Clad in aerospace-grade aluminum, Lenovo’s flagship offering is equipped with up to AMD Ryzen 9 5900H Mobile Processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPUs.
One of the key features of the flagship laptop is the Lenovo Legion AI Engine, which optimizes system performance via machine learning to deliver the highest possible frame rates. It also comes with the Legion TrueStrike Keyboard that allows innovative soft-landing switches, delivering deeper strokes with equal force on every strike.
Apart from that, the full-sized keyboard with a number pad is also illuminated in over 16 million colors via Corsair iCUE support with a glass trackpad that is 23% larger than previous generations.
The Lenovo Legion 7 also comes with the Coldfront 3.0 thermal management system that features turbo-charged dual-fans and quad-channel exhausts with vapor chamber technology for a massive cooling process. It also includes Nahimic Audio, 720p integrated webcam with E-shutter and option Wi-Fi 6 Killer AX1650 that delivers ultra-fast wireless connectivity and low latency gaming.
Lenovo Legion Slim 7
The Legion Slim 7 is the successor to the world’s lightest 15-inch gaming laptop with NVIDIA RTX graphics released last year. The more portable sibling of Lenovo’s flagship gaming laptop is also powered by up to the latest AMD Ryzen 9 5900H Mobile Processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 with Max-Q Design GPUs. It comes with a 15.6-inch IPS display with Dolby Vision, Lenovo AI Engine for dynamic CPU and GPU power distribution, and Coldfront 3.0 thermal management with multiple sensors and ultra-thin fan fins.
Other features of the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 includes Legion TrueStrike Keyboard, Nahimic Audio, Type-C Power Delivery, Fingerprint reader integrated in the power button, Webcam with physical shutter, Lenovo Vantage software and Fn+Q for instant power management, Optional Wi-Fi 6 Killer AX1650.
Lenovo Legion 5 Pro
The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro offers the same 16-inch 16:10 QHD display as the Legion 7 and also powered by up to the latest AMD Ryzen 9 5800H Mobile Processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GPUs.
Like its siblings, the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro also has the Lenovo AI Engine for dynamic CPU and GPU power distribution, Coldfront 3.0 thermal management with multiple thermal sensors, Legion TrueStrike Keyboard with soft-landing switches and optional 4-zone RGB lighting, Nahimic Audio, Type-C Power Delivery, E-shutter webcam for enhanced privacy, Lenovo Vantage and Intel Wi-Fi 6.
Lenovo Legion 5
The Lenovo Legion 5 comes with either a 15-inch or 17-inch screen display. The 15.6-inch variant offers 165Hz IPS display with 1080p resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, and up to 100 percent sRGB color accuracy while the 17-inch version features a 144Hz IPS display. It also boast some of the top features under the new lineup of the Legion, including Lenovo AI Engine, Coldfront 3.0 thermal management, Legion TrueStrike Keyboard, Nahimic Audio, Type-C Power Delivery, E-shutter webcam for enhanced privacy, Lenovo Vantage software, Fn+Q for instant power management and Intel Wi-Fi 6.
Every Lenovo Legion gaming laptop also comes with a complimentary one-month Microsoft Xbox Game Pass for PC, allowing users to play hundreds of great games for non-stop gaming.
Lenovo Philippines has yet to announce the local pricing and availability of its latest gaming laptops. But according to Lenovo's official website, the price of the Lenovo Legion 7 will start at $1,699 and is expected to be available in the US in June 2021. The Lenovo Legion Slim 7, on the other hand, will be available starting May 2021 while pricing has yet to be announced. Meanwhile, the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro has a starting price of $999 while the Lenovo Legion 5 starts at $769 with both laptops expected to be available in March 2021.
