Maymay Entrata, BTS, BLACKPINK, Harry Styles nominated in MTV EMA 2022

MTV has just rolled out the list of nominees for its 2022 MTV EMA, with Asian artists like Maymay Entrata, BTS, BLACKPINK, and TXT revving up the roster.

Released on Wednesday, Oct. 12, the list features Filipino actress and singer Maymay Entrata and South Korean boy group TOMORROW X TOGETHER among its nominees for Best Asia Act.

The famed music channel described Maymay as "one of the most talked-about celebrities in the Philippines" with a self-titled debut album that went platinum. In addition, her 2019 album "MPOWERED" features the viral track "Amakabogera" which, MTV said, "has more than 900,000 uses on TikTok."

Meanwhile, the "bright and youthful" TXT was nominated for their EP "The Dream Chapter: Star," which "peaked at number one on the Gaon Album Chart and Billboard World Albums Chart and entered the US Billboard 200 at number 140, the highest-charting debut album by any male K-pop group at the time."

Joining Maymay and TXT in the Best Asia Act category are Indonesia's NIKI, Thailand's SILVY, and Japan's THE RAMPAGE from EXILE. Concurrently, global South Korean sensations BTS, BLACKPINK, ITZY, Lisa, SEVENTEEN, and TWICE are all vying for the Best K-pop title. Both BTS and BLACKPINK are also nominated for Biggest Fans and Best Metaverse Performance.

In the Western region, Harry Styles leads the pack with seven nominations, including Best Artist, Best Song, and Best Video. Following Styles with six nominations is Taylor Swift, who also earned a nod for Best Longform Video, a brand new MTV EMA 2022 category.

The MTV EMA 2022 is set to take place on November 13 at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf, Germany. Viewers in over 170 countries can catch the live broadcast on MTV. 

Fans can vote for their biases and favorite artists on www.mtvema.com across 19 categories until Nov. 9, 11:59 p.m. CET, or Nov. 10, 6:59 a.m. in Philippine time.
