No one’s doing it like OT4: BLACKPINK makes explosive return with ‘Born Pink’ album
One of K-pop’s IT girls said it herself, “It’s not a comeback since we’ve never left.”
BLACKPINK has made their long-awaited return to the music industry with their sophomore album Born Pink and its title track Shut Down. The album and music video were released on Friday, September 16.
“It’s not a game since we’ve never lost / The leash on your neck is mine / Flooring the gas pedal we go two zero five / Shut it down / Make it rain, don’t trip, baby / Be humble, just sit, baby / Praying for my downfall, many have tried, baby,” Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé sang in the song’s verses.
In an exclusive interview with Xportsnews, Jennie described Shut Down as an addictive banger that “takes the charisma that BLACKPINK has consistently shown to the next level.” The song’s music video also takes Blinks on a trip down memory lane as the props contain snippets of the girl group’s biggest hits.

“While listening [to Shut Down], I naturally imagined the performance. That much, we were convinced that our BLACKPINK was well exposed and that it was the music that we could express well,” Lisa added.
Since it’s been one year and 11 months since the release of BLACKPINK’s first album, Jisoo said it’s a record that “I’ve worked hard on for a long time.” To recall, the girl group’s first studio album was released in October 2020.
Meanwhile, Rosé said while The Album “focused solely on music,” Born Pink expressed “the essence of BLACKPINK.”
“I pride myself in creating music that I’ve never seen before with my ingenious imagination. While making this album, all the members were full of confidence and we’re so perfectly prepared,” Rosé added.
Aside from Shut Down, Born Pink contains the following tracks: Pink Venom, Typa Girl, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Hard To Love (Rosé solo), The Happiest Girl, Tally, and Ready for Love.
BLACKPINK debuted in August 2016 with the double title tracks Whistle and Boombayah. Since then, they have often been named one of the biggest K-pop girl groups of all time.
The girl group is also set to hit the road with their “Born Pink” world tour starting on October 15 and 16 in Seoul, South Korea. The tour includes stops in North America, Asia, and Australia, among others.
They are also expected to meet their Filipino fans on March 25, 2023, however, additional details are yet to be revealed.
