‘Penthouse’ star Kim Youngdae cast as one of the leads of ‘School 2021’
Do you remember Kim Youngdae, the actor behind one of the most iconic Gen-Z characters in The Penthouse: War in Life? He’s back on our screens as one of the leads for the highly-anticipated K-drama School 2021.
Up-and-coming actor Kim Youngdae is confirmed to be one of the lead characters of School 2021 alongside WEi’s Kim Yohan.
Youngdae will play the role of Jung Youngjoo, a transfer student who has a mysterious relationship with Gong Kijoon (Kim Yohan).
“I’m grateful, and it’s wonderful that I got to star in the School series... Youngjoo from School 2021 has a backstory and a pitiable side, so my heart went out to him. I want to experience Youngjoo’s anger, pain, and growth together,” the actor shared on the Korean pop culture platform Soompi.
School 2021 is part of KBS2’s School anthology, a K-drama series that focuses on the Korean education system, bullying, and growing up. The anthology series is known for casting famous actors like Kim Sohyun, Lee Jongsuk, Kim Woobin, Jo Insung, and Gong Yoo when they were starting out in their careers. The first season premiered in 1999.
The most recent installations of the School series include School 2017, Who Are You: School 2015, and School 2013.
Kim Youngdae will be reprising his role as Joo Seokhoon in Penthouse, slated for a June 4 release. The actor also appeared on K-dramas such as Extraordinary You and Cheat On Me If You Can.
