#FangirlGigs: Hit after hit, Maroon 5 Asia Tour 2025 encapsulates anthemic feels of youth

The venue was sold out, and fans trooped to the Mall of Asia Arena to catch the Philippine leg of the 2025 Maroon 5 Asia Tour. It was their fourth time performing in the country for Filipino fans who could not get enough of the pop rock/neo-soul band, and they did not disappoint in this latest tour installment.

After the sets of front acts, alt band Culture Wars and DJ Mailbox, the lights dimmed, and Harry Belafonte’s Jump in the Line blasted before Maroon 5 burst into action with their 2014 hit Animals. Frontman Adam Levine, casually dressed in ripped jeans and sneakers, howled into the microphone and the crowd naturally went wild.

That is part of the magic of Maroon 5, Levine’s ability to enthrall the audience with his vocal prowess and seemingly boundless energy. Throughout his performance, he hopped and skipped through the length of the stage, raising his arms to a fist-pumping crowd, all in timing with the music.

Connecting with the audience

The band is all about connecting with their audience, online and onstage. They are a solid case study for marketers when it comes to building a fanbase through online interaction. The group mobilized their millions of fans on Facebook to insert 15-second videos of themselves into their music video for Cold back in 2017.

The video for Girls Like You had the same flavor, but this time with celebrity cameos by the likes of Ellen DeGeneres, Mary J. Blige, Millie Bobbie Brown, Gal Gadot, Camila Cabello, Olympic Gold Medalist Chloe Kim and women’s rights activist Amani Al-Khatahtbeh. With Sugar, they are said to have crashed at least two of the real-life weddings featured in the music video. Both songs were part of the repertoire of the concert that was produced by Live Nation, with support from the Tourism Promotions Board and the Department of Tourism.

For their PH Asia Tour, they took the Pinoy audience along for the ride. Levine encouraged the fans to sing along, at one point saying “Filipinos are the most musical wonderful people. That is why we love coming here so much you sing with us. You experience the same joy that we experience.”

To introduce their chart-topping song Memories, Levine had a heartfelt message. “We love singing this song every night. To each and every one of you guys, this song means something totally different. I think you are lucky to have a song like that, it doesn’t mean the same thing to every one individual person. We’ve all lost somebody before, this song is about someone who very special to us that I think about every single day, and I especially think about when we sing this song.” Then he invited the audience to “fill the room with melody.”

The concert kept going with hit after anthemic hit, hook after hook. As the band rocked through their hits Stereo Hearts, This Love, Moves Like Jagger, Sugar, Payphone, and their last song Sunday Morning, the audience was transported back in time, to sem breaks, summer beach vacations, breakups, and breakthroughs.

The Maroon 5 forte is effortless storytelling through song, with beats that bring about undeniable LSS.
