Apple unveils new iMac with M4 chip, Apple Intelligence
Weeks after Apple unveiled the new iPad Mini, it introduced the latest iMac, which comes with the M4 chip and Apple Intelligence.
The tech giant announced the new computers at an event in Cupertino, California on Oct. 28.
Apple says that with the new chip, the iMac is up to 1.7x faster for daily tasks and 2.1x faster for more intensive workflows compared to computers with the M1 processor. One other big change is with its accessories, which now support USB-C instead of Lightning cables.
The 2024 iMac comes with a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display which is available in a nano-texture glass option to reduce glare, a 12MP webcam with support for desk view on FaceTime, and 16GB of RAM configurable up to 32 GB. For connectivity, the computer has two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, which can be upgraded to four.
Out of the box, the PC will run on macOS Sequoia which features iPhone Mirroring, a redesigned Reader, a new Video Viewer, Distraction Control, and the new Passwords app.
It will also support Apple Intelligence, the tech giant's AI ecosystem capable of generating text and images. The AI also brings upgrades to Siri, allowing it to draw from a user's personal context.
The iMac comes in green, yellow, orange, pink, blue, purple, and silver. It will come with a color-matched Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse or optional Magic Trackpad.
Here's how much configurations will cost in the Philippines:
