Ninong Ry collab, Kween Yasmin duet, and other Jose Mari Chan content for 2023's 'ber' months

It's already September, the onset of the "ber" months. For Filipinos, the month marks the start of the country's Christmas "season."

Starting Sept. 1, even days ahead, Pinoys do what they do best: post memes about the occasion. The frequent subject? Jose Mari Chan, thanks to his hit Christmas in Our Hearts that's been playing on everybody's speakers since the '90s.

Chan's memes include him doing a would-be sound check, peering through the window, warming up for his Yuletide exercise, even being tied to a chair and gagged. Others also edit movie posters or stills and insert him.

Aside from turning him into the subject of humor, there are users who make wholesome content to simply honor Chan as the "Father of Philippine Christmas Music."

Ninong Ry guesting

Chan had a guest appearance on food content creator Ninong Ry's latest video.

In it, they prepared macaroni salad, a staple in noche buena feasts, even as Chan showed off his singing skills at the ripe age of 78.

Vibing with Kween Yasmin

Chan shared a space with comedian Kween Yasmin, who sang the chorus of Christmas in Our Hearts.

In the video, they're wearing red clothing while Kween Yasmin dons a Santa hat. Chan does a few dance moves while she delivers the performance of her life.

Chatting with Cardinal Luis Tagle

A Facebook user shared a heartwarming photo of Chan having a conversation with the Philippine church official.

He rhetorically asked whether Chan is asking for Tagle's permission to sing his Christmas songs.

Surprise, surprise!

A viral meme video showed three guys inspecting an animal cage in what appears to be a rural setting.

As one of them opens it, Chan appears and the first few notes of Christmas in Our Hearts plays, much to their shock.

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's...

A Facebook user shared a carousel of images in which an airplane was supposedly spotted over Manobo.

The user said would-be residents saw something falling from the airplane, and it goes without saying what—who—they spotted.

J.M.C. In Da Club?

This 2022 video resurfaced days ahead of Sept. 1. In the video, a man can be seen all smiles as he shows his snappy moves in the club.

For many users, the man's image and likeness is too unmistakable.

'What road rage? I'm Jose Mari Chan's guitarist.'

A viral road rage incident in Quezon City made the headlines last week, i.e., an ex-cop pulling out a gun to a cyclist and cocking it after mistakenly sharing lanes.

In their element, Filipinos edited photos of Wilfredo Gonzales and replaced his gun with less threatening objects. One entry in particular has him playing a guitar, even as our usual suspect is all smiles as if he's about to croon, Whenever I see girls and boys selling lanterns on the streets.
