The creativity of Filipino youth was put in full display as the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) announced the winners of the Heneral Tuna Fan Art Contest.
The artworks in the contest saw traditional (painting and drawing) and digital methods with each piece portraying the seven Filipino values featured in the Heneral Tuna animated students.
Topping the Traditional fan art category was 20-year-old Glenn Gonzales' "Ang Unang Hapunan," a watercolor painting depicting an injured Heneral Tuna enjoying a meal with the pa-mil-ya and neighbors who took him in.
In second place was senior high school student Jacky Ratio's piece on pakikipagkapwa made with colored pens and markers. While in third was Quezon, Isabela's Emmanuel Genisis Bano.
Zaldy Salas Jr. from Navotas City bagged first place in the Digital fan art category, with his digital painting of the general on his back, looking at the caring and selfless acts he saw in Barangay Hiraya.
High school student Jonuel Corazon Villante got second place for her anime-inspired interpretation of family, while Marvin Enila took home third place.
First-place winners in each category will receive a P10,000 cash prize, while second and third-placers will receive P7,500 and P5,000, respectively.
