Free accounts on X are now limited to 50 posts a day

X has rolled out limits on free accounts, including reducing how many posts they can make per day.

The tech company quietly implemented the limitations, as these "alleviate some of the strain on the behind-the-scenes part of X and reduce downtime and error pages," according to the X help center page.

Current technical limits include 50 original posts and 200 replies per day for unverified accounts. As reported by tech site Engadget, the previous cap on posts for free users was 2,400 per day.

The post limit is further broken down into smaller limits for semi-hourly intervals, as per X.

Other previously implemented limits on unverified users are 500 direct messages daily, four changes to account email per hour, and 400 follows per day.

If you hit the post limit, X will prompt an error message. You'll be able to post again after the time limit has passed.

The social platform's paid subscription service, X Premium, was unveiled in October. The plan, which starts at P165 per month, is ad-free and lets users edit posts, write longer tweets, upload longer videos, create a Community, and more.

X's CTO Elon Musk has made a number of controversial changes to the social media firm's management and product since he acquired Twitter in April 2022 for $44 billion.

Recently, Meta began testing Instagram Plus, a subscription service for the photo- and video-sharing app, which lets users create multiple story audiences, extend their Stories' expiration, give a "Superlike," preview Stories anonymously, and more. It costs P65 per month.
