BBC News reported that her death came just a few weeks after she tied the knot with her longtime partner Adriano Cardinali.

According to the media outlet, O’Connor revealed she was battling cancer after dealing with ulcerative colitis, which causes inflammation and sores (ulcers) in the digestive tract, according to health information website Mayo Clinic.

O’Connor placed first at the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2017. She also won silver and bronze at the Youth World Championships in 2017 and 2018, respectively. She later turned pro under Boxxer.
