'I never forgot you... ever': Steve from 'Blue's Clues' is sorry for disappearing on your childhood
Can you believe it's been 25 years since Blue's Clues went on air? To celebrate the show's anniversary, Nick Jr. brought back its original host Steve Burns, and he has something he wants to tell fans who grew up watching him.
For years, kids helped Steve find clues, hang out with Blue, sing songs about the mail, and more. But in 2002, Steve suddenly announced that he was going off to college and he was replaced by his younger brother Joe.
Wearing his signature green striped shirt, Burns acknowledged the abrupt exit and reflected on the things he and the kids who watched the show have accomplished since then.
"I wanted to tell you that I really couldn't have done all of that without your help. In fact, all the help that you helped me with when you were younger is still helping me today," the TV host said.
He closed his earnest message telling fans they've been on his mind. "After all these years, I never forgot you... ever."
Burns came back to the show for the 2019 premiere of Blue's Clues and You together with Joe, played by Donovan Patton, and the newest host Joshua De La Cruz.
The actor told Daily Mail in 2017 that he left the show because "it seemed like the time to go... I was just getting older and I kind of occupied this weird older brother space on that show. Like I was sort of an adult, but not really."
In another interview on the Nick Jr. special Behind the Clues: 10 years with Blue, Burns revealed he was losing his hair: "I knew I wasn't going to be doing children's television all my life, mostly because I refused to lose my hair on a kid's TV show," he shared.
