Mariz Umali sends support to husband Raffy Tima as he covers repatriation of Filipinos in Egypt: 'You’re doing an exceptional job'

Despite the hectic nature of their work, broadcast journalists Mariz Umali and Raffy Tima have always made their relationship a priority.

Showing support for her husband, Mariz penned a message to Raffy on Friday, Oct. 20, who is currently in Egypt covering the repatriation of Filipinos caught in the Israel-Hamas war. 

The journalist also shared how Egypt has held a special place in their hearts, and that they have been meaning to visit it sometime. 

“Egypt has long held a special place in [Raffy Tima]'s and my hearts as a dream destination. Unfortunately, circumstances have prevented us from visiting until now,” Mariz wrote in her social media posts. 

“Raffy is currently in Egypt, covering the expected repatriation of Filipinos who were caught in the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza,” she added, extending her support to Raffy. 

“Ingat ka diyan, mahal! You’re doing an exceptional job covering everything on your own,” she continued. 

“For the time being, I’ll have to be content with glimpses of the pyramids in the background during our video chats,” she concluded: “Ingat mahal and balik tayo diyan ha?” 

The couple met in GMA two decades ago and have been friends since 2001. They dated for two years after six months of courtship. Raffy proposed to Mariz via GMA’s epic-fantasy series Amaya, which he masked as their “special premiere” to its finale episode at that time. 

They finally tied the knot on December 8, 2012.
