Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla have been absent on TV last year. But it looks like that’s about to change in 2021, as the two are set to appear in a new soap opera in a new TV show for ABS-CBN.
The upcoming series is conceptualized by Juan Miguel Severo, spoken word poet and the writer of the online Boys Love series Gaya sa Pelikula.
Severo revealed this in a tweet on Wednesday, January 13.
“Panahon na naman ng pag-ibig,” Severo said with a screenshot of what appears to be the title page of the script for the new KathNiel TV show.
Kathryn and Daniel confirm this during the media conference of their online series The House Arrest of Us earlier this week. The actress has been good friends with the spoken word poet since working together in the 2018 movie The Hows of Us.
“Excited kami sa teleserye na gagawin,” Kathryn said. “Kasi ‘yung concept no’n nanggaling kay (Juan Miguel Severo). It’s something na gusto namin ni DJ talaga kaya medyo na-delay dahil inaayos pa ‘yung script. We’re happy because we’re working on a project na gusto namin ‘yung concept.”
She added, ““Malayo sa last na ginawa namin which excites me and DJ. Kasi matagal na naming gusto gumawa ng ganitong klase pero mahirap ito sa execution. Kailangan talaga ng time namin for that.”
Kathryn and Daniel’s last regular TV series is the 2017 fantasy romance show “ La Luna Sangre.”
While they did not say when their show with Juan Miguel Severo will be released, it was revealed during the ABS-CBN Christmas Special last month that Kathryn and Daniel are set to topbill a new soap opera this year.
Severo collaborated with Kathryn and Daniel last year when he wrote the story for the music video for band Ben&Ben’s song “Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay,” which featured the reel and real life couple.
