"We recommend you stay at least 6 feet from Joe Goldberg at all times," the show's official Twitter account wrote. "YOU Season 3 is back in production."
Along with the announcement, the streaming giant shared a photo of the thriller series' star, Penn Badgley, wearing a black face mask that reads "Hello You" across the front on their social media accounts.
Netflix first announced plans for a third season in January, more than one year after the second season premiered.
While the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has severely delayed plans for season 3, a number of television series have found ways to resume shooting safely.
The psychological thriller television series follows Joe Goldberg (Badgley), a bookstore manager turned serial killer as he pursues different love interests. The show, which was loosely based on Caroline Kepnes’ bestselling novel of the same name, premiered on Netflix in December 2018 after airing for one season on Lifetime.
The second season, which was released exclusively on Netflix, is based on Kepnes’ second novel, Hidden Bodies, following Joe's move from New York to Los Angeles, where he meets a new love interest, Love Quinn (played by The Haunting of Hill House and Bly Manor star Victoria Pedretti).
While plot details for the show’s third season have yet to be announced, the story will presumably pick up after season 2’s cliffhanger: Love pregnant with Joe's child.
The second season of You also starred Jenna Ortega (Young Jane in Jane the Virgin) as 15-year old Ellie, and Carmela Zumbado as investigative reporter Delilah and Ellie's older sister.
A report by Deadline confirmed that two new actors are joining the upcoming third season. Shalita Grant (NCIS: New Orleans) is playing Sherry, a “mom-fluencer” who invites Love into her inner social circle, and Travis Van Winkle (Instinct) is playing Cary, a wealthy man who befriends the murderous stalker.
Seasons 1 and 2 of You are currently streaming on Netflix.
