Sony has confirmed that three of its popular PlayStation franchises are getting their own series adaptations.

During the company’s investor briefing on Thursday, Sony confirmed that it is currently developing TV shows based on God of War, Horizon, and Gran Turismo.

Details about these projects remain scant as of this writing, but industry insider David Gibson provided more details in a tweet, confirming that the long-rumored God of War TV series is heading to Amazon Prime while Horizon will be adapted into a TV show on Netflix.

However, since Gran Turismo is reportedly in early development, it’s still unknown which platform the racing simulation game will be debuting.

"Sony IR - 3 positives in the presentation 1) Horizon (Netflix), God of War (Amazon) and Gran Turismo in TV development 2) 2 live service games coming in FY3/23 are not Destiny and 3) PC gaming revenues will surge 3.8x in FY3/23 (which I think relates to live service games)," he said.

Release dates, plot details are also unknown as of now including actors who will be portraying the roles of Kratos, Atreus, and Aloy in God of War and Horizon TV shows.

To date, Santa Monica Studio’s Norse mythology-inspired action-adventure game has a total of seven games, starting with God of War, which made its debut on PlayStation 2 in 2005.

In 2018, the studio released the seventh entry in the game franchise on PlayStation 4 while the sequel, God of War Ragnarok, is slated to come out on PlayStation 5 later this year.

The latest installment, which is based on ancient mythology, sees the journey of the titular demigod hero Kratos in the Greek world as he seeks revenge against the Olympian gods who tricked him into killing his own family.

Guerilla Games’ Horizon series, on the other hand, released earlier this year its second entry in the franchise, Horizon Forbidden West, which received positive reviews from the gaming community.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Horizon follows the story of Aloy, a young huntress who sets out on a journey in a world overrun by machines to uncover her past.

Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo series, meanwhile, remains as one of the most popular racing simulation games since it made its debut in 1997, with more than 85 million units sold worldwide.

These gaming properties will join Sony’s previously announced projects currently being adapted into TV series including Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us, and Twisted Metal.

Earlier this year, Sony released the film adaptation of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted, which starred Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Sohila Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Antonio Banderas, generating more than $400 million in the box office.

Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog 2 also made its theatrical debut last month, garnering $376 million worldwide. The sequel starred Ben Schwartz, Idris Elba, and Jim Carrey.

Apart from Sony’s gaming properties, other series adaptations are also being developed, including Minecraft, Tomb Raider, Mega Man, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Pokemon, and Fallout.
