OPM icon April Boy Regino has passed away. He was 51 years old.

His brother Vingo Regino, without detailing the cause of the singer's death, confirmed the news morning of November 29, saying, “Nakakalungkot naman ang araw na ito… wala na ang kuya April Boy ko.”

Bayan Promotions, a Filipino promoter and online ticket sales company in California, also announced the news in a Facebook post.

It can be recalled that the ‘90s Jukebox King was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2009, but was declared cancer-free years later. In 2015, he was diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy that caused him to slowly lose his vision.

Among his famous hits are Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin, Paano Ang Puso Ko, and Umiiyak Ang Puso.

As of this writing, “April Boy Regino” is the top local trending topic on Twitter.
