WATCH: Marvin Agustin, Jolina Magdangal's reunion movie 'Ex Ex Lovers' releases first trailer
The much-awaited reunion of '90s love team MarJo, or Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal, is finally happening as the teaser trailer for their new film, Ex Ex Lovers, has been released.
In the trailer, Jolina's character, Joy, is faced with a difficult decision when her daughter asks if her father, her former lover Ced (Agustin), could walk her down the aisle.
Joy had to travel all the way to Valletta, Malta to look for Ced and ask him to fulfill their daughter's request.
When they cross paths, they begin to light up the flares of their romance again in the funniest way possible.
Near the end of the trailer, Jolina says the line, "Sure ka bang kaibigan mo lang ako?" which hardcore fans of their tandem may regard as an easter egg to their 1998 hit film Labs Kita... Okey Ka Lang?
Joining Jolina and Marvin in the film are Juan Karlos and Loisa Andalio. It is helmed by JP Habac, who is known for directing other romantic-comedy movies and shows such as Marahuyo Project, Drag You & Me, and Bola Bola.
In the comments section, many fans expressed their excitement for the comeback film and highlighted how their chemistry is still great after all these years.
"OMG, mapapanood ko na naman my fave love team," one user wrote.
Another said, "OMG, my inner child is screaming! My fave love team is back together."
Ex Ex Lovers serves as Jolina and Marvin's reunion project after 16 years. They were last paired as a love team in the 2009 drama-romance series Adik Sa'Yo, where they starred alongside Dennis Trillo and Jennica Garcia.
Their tandem was at its peak in the 90s when they starred in various romantic comedy and drama projects such as Hey Babe!, Labs Ko Si Babe, and F.L.A.M.E.S.
The undeniable chemistry of the duo earned them many fans, many of whom hoped that Marvin and Jolina would develop a relationship in real life.
In 2015, Jolina admitted she was "crazy in love" with Marvin, though admitted it was a puppy love kind of feeling. Marvin, for his part, said he was afraid of breaking her partner’s heart.
Jolina has been married to musician Mark Escueta of Rivermaya since 2011. They have two kids together.
Ex Ex Lovers is slated for a release in 2025.
