The Philippine Book Festival is returning this March for its third edition.

The upcoming event, which will highlight Filipino authors and their works, will run from March 12 to 15 at the Megatrade Hall at SM Megamall. It will again serve as a space where readers, writers, illustrators, publishers, students, and literary enthusiasts can explore and shop for Filipino books and educational materials.

Planning to stop by PBF? Here's what you need to know about this year's edition.

Four realms

Under the theme "Gubat ng Karunungan - The Rainforest of Knowledge," this year's PBF will feature four signature "realms" representing different corners of Philippine literature.

The first is "Kid Lit," which highlights picture books, learning materials, and other titles for young readers. Next are "Komiks" from visual storytellers, and "Booktopia," which includes fiction, nonfiction, poetry, essays, and more. Meanwhile, "Aral Aklat" focuses on textbooks and other educational resources.

Art and more at PBF

Attendees of PBF will also be treated to a variety of art installations and exhibits. This year, there are five spaces, including "Lugar Lagdaan," where you can meet your favorite local authors; "Bahay Ilustrador," where you can see and talk to illustrators, graphic storytellers, and comic artists; "Gubat ng Karunungan," where workshops take place; "Fiesta Stage," where performances and panels will take place; and "Umpukan," for intimate talks and conversations.

Stellar literary lineup

Some of the writers and artists who will be present at PBF include National Artist for Film and Broadcast Ricky Lee, National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario, historian Ambeth Ocampo, authors Jonaxx, Rob Canimo, Eugene Evasco, Luis Gatmaitan, Manix Abrera, and Pol Medina.

The first PBF was held in 2023. From its first edition to 2025, it drew more than 120,000 visitors, according to the National Book Development Board.
