Casting news for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially for their shows on Disney Plus, has been overflowing now that we're at the homestretch for 2020. The ever-secretive folks at Marvel can't seem to keep the lid on spoiler roles, as the rumor mill kept buzzing over weeks with photos of a certain A-list celebrity running around in a purple archer's costume on the set of Hawkeye.
Now, those rumors are finally confirmed. Hailee Steinfeld has been snapped on the set of the Jeremy Renner-led MCU show as she stepped out wearing the trademark purple colored hero suit of fan-favorite archer, Kate Bishop.
The photos, as reported by Comicbook.com, show Renner walking with co-star Steinfeld who is wearing what the site describes as a "comic-accurate" Hawkeye costume.
Twitter fan account @MCU_Source also posted additional images of Steinfeld, showing a little bit more detail on the costume and weapons.
In the comic books, Bishop is the protégé of Clint Barton, the original Hawkeye. Barton trains Bishop in archery and various fighting styles and, eventually, the young woman takes up the name of Hawkeye for her superhero persona.
What's equally important is Bishop's story arc in the comics. She eventually becomes part of the Young Avengers – a much "younger" group of superheroes that have ties with their older counterparts in the main Avengers lineup.
Fan reactions have been nothing but positive for Steinfeld's casting, as well as for the potential of a Young Avengers teamup in the future of the Hawkeye show.
This has been an exciting time for MCU fans as casting news and rumors keep pouring in, week after week, for Marvel's various screen properties.
Only recently, aside from the reported involvement of Spider-Man film franchise stars Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Kirsten Dunst, and Alfred Molina all returning for Tom Holland's third (yet untitled) Spider-Man film, news broke that Charlie Cox who played The Man Without Fear himself, Daredevil, was also joining the fray.
The future is still muddled on when audiences may return to cinemas amidst the panemic, and it seems like Marvel is taking full advantage of this special predicament and the characters at their disposal as more and more people are turning to streaming services to satisfy their MCU fix.
