Meet the new weekend art fair in town: the Modern and Contemporary Art Festival happening this July
Art enthusiasts and collectors now have a new festival to add to their calendars. Meet MoCAF, the Modern and Contemporary Art Festival to be held from July 29 to 31 at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati.
Presented by Art+, MoCAF aims to be an exciting showcase of both revered masters and up-and-coming artists that reflects the fast-developing art scene in the Philippines.
MoCAF boasts a program of curated exhibitions, solo artist presentations, group exhibitions, and talks for discerning collectors and art enthusiasts alike.
The weekend fair is also curated by Fundacion Sansó director, Ricky Francisco. Francisco has an illustrious background having worked with Singaporean, Indonesian, Malaysian, and Japanese artists and institutions throughout his career.
Local leading galleries will be showcasing some of the most engaging works of art from the best Filipino artists working today, such as:

- Village Art Gallery
- DF Art Agency
- Leon Gallery
- Secret Fresh
- Qube Gallery
Special exhibitions by the country's well-known artists will also be showcased:
- Federico Aguilar Alcuaz
- Ramon Orlina
- Michael Cacnio
- Anton Del Castillo
- Robert Alejandro
International galleries such as Japan's YOD Gallery and Gallery Kogure of Japan will also be taking part in the festival. Promising local artists will also be exhibiting their work through Art+ Discoveries.
Aside from the exhibits, a lecture series titled MoCAF Dialogues will be available for visitors, including topics such as "Economic Outlook and Its Impact in the Art World," as well as "Art World Today and The Luxurious Market."
Ambassador Cariño and Gus Vibal will hold a talk titled "The Future of Art Publishing," while veteran journalist Julius Babao will take part in a lecture called "Collecting Art: Perspective of Collectors."
"We envision MoCAF as a momentous culmination of modern and contemporary artists, galleries, and collectors, bridging together opportunities in these different art sectors to grow and appreciate one another’s endeavors,” Francisco shared.
"Through MoCAF, we aim to strengthen the identity of Filipino modern and contemporary art and focus on the Philippines as a global artistic and cultural center that will be recognized all throughout Southeast Asia."
