Why Manila’s MUP bet Alexandra Abdon is trending online
The Miss Universe Philippines competition may be over, but it remains a hot topic among Filipinos.
Amid the after-pageant drama involving other candidates Sandra Lemonon of Taguig and Michele Gumabao of Quezon City, Miss Manila Alexandra Abdon has served as a much-needed breather.
The 25-year-old is no stranger to the pageant scene. Prior to joining the prestigious MUP, she also took part in Miss Global Philippines 2015, Miss Earth Philippines 2016, and Mutya ng Pilipinas 2018.
She may not have won the title in any of these tilts, but she easily won the hearts of netizens for her wit, confidence, and funny antics.
Instead of “spilling the tea,” Miss Manila chose to focus on having a good time! Many said they would love to have her as their “tagay” buddy at a party.

In her preliminary interview, she asked the judges to pause the time so she can answer their questions properly. “Easy ka lang sa pag-time. Nagugulat ako eh. May galit ka yata, sir!" she jokingly told one of them.

Instead of saying “Miss Universe Philippines 2020” in a video featuring all the MUP contenders, she said “Miss Universe Etneb Etneb (bente bente)” as she flashed some peace signs and worked her charm.
