Snap! Beauty queens in Thailand plunge into dirty water as bridge collapses
Beauty queens should be poised and beautiful under all circumstances—but it’s definitely hard to remain composed after this.
Viral video footage on Tuesday, Dec. 8 shows 30 beauty queens in Thailand dramatically plunging into a dirty lagoon after the bridge they were standing on snapped and collapsed.
According to the New York Post, the beauty title hopefuls were posing for photographers at a cage in Chiang Mai, Thailand as part of the promotional activities of competition.
All 30 beauty queens were made to pose on a suspension bridge for the photo-op. However, the bridge snapped, presumably under the combined weight of the beauty queens, thus sending the women into the waters below—as captured on camera.
Three contestants were injured due to the fall, while all of the women were taken to the hospital for a check-up.
Worapot Chatkanjana, owner of the cafe, promised to cover the hospital bill of the injured women.
As in the Philippines, beauty pageants are very popular in Thailand—which explains the dedication of these “fallen” girls. The 27 uninjured beauty queens continued the promotional event after their fall.
