The solar eclipse may not be visible from the Philippines but you can still hop on the hype by listening to some eclipse-related tunes.

One classic song that comes to mind is Bonnie Tyler's pop-rock hit Total Eclipse of the Heart which hit 1 billion views on YouTube in September 2023.

With the song's reach, many artists in the industry have made their own renditions and covers of the song, and PhilSTAR L!fe has rounded up some of our favorites for you to listen to while you stream the total solar eclipse via NASA's coverage.

 Westlife

The 90’s pop group’s rendition of the song exhibits a mellow rock take. Their on-point harmonizations blended so well with their male singing voices that extended to different ranges.

Their rendition of the song was included in their album “The Love Album” that was released in November of 2006.

One Direction

In One Direction’s initial years as a group on X Factor UK in 2010, they gave a rendition of the pop song– almost sounding like a band version – without having to step away so much from the original.

The group is dressed as vampires from Twilight with pale and bloody make-up as they performed the song.

After their performance, judges Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole have nothing but praise for them.

Glee

On the 17th episode of Season 1 of the American musical comedy-drama TV series Glee in 2009, Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff performed the pop-rock hit superbly with a ballet choreography.

Their rendition displayed intensity of emotion through their singing voices and clarity in diction.

Hazel Faith

Filipina singer, songwriter, and actress Hazel Faith’s rendition approached the song as a ballad with her angelic singing displaying her strength in high notes.

The dynamics of her rendition made the song more heartfelt and flowing with emotions as the progression of her singing voice in the bridge part of the song matches the intensity of the lyrics.

Sharon Cuneta

In the 1985 movie Bituin Walang Ningning starred by the Megastar Sharon Cuneta, she performed Total Eclipse of the Heart gracefully.

Not much has changed from the original version but minor changes in the tune of the second voice were applied that made her rendition more sweet sounding.
